Not In Edmonton
Wednesday, April 24, 2019
There's something weirdly funny to me about wearing my still in edmonton tee elsewhere. While my tee say's I'm still in YEG the backdrop gives me away, quite clearly these were taken in Vancouver!! We were only there for maybe 24 hours, but with the fam we went and ate some amazing sushi and walked over to Granville Island Market to load up on tea and treats. Always a fan favourite for us.
I used to go to Van a lot because my brother lived there for 10 years, but since he's moved to NYC I haven't found myself out that way in quite some time. This quick stopover made me realize how much I missed it. Our morning run down to Kits beach (and obviously the doggo beach) made me so happy, I love that place, it just feels so good to be there.
This outfit, while I loved it, not practicable for a day out. The pants are actually a romper, and when you put a tee over said romper you have to get completely naked whenever you need to go to the bathroom. Ah live and learn.

If you're sick of seeing these pants yet, sorry not sorry but they're here to stay. I wear them ALL the time, because they feel like pjs but are so much more fun. Honestly they're all I want to wear, is this turning into a problem? Do I have an addiction to my pants?! Could be worse. Also I've decided it's denim jacket time, aka spring. It's gone from being snowy, cold and white to less chilly, dirty and brown everywhere. Ah spring in Alberta.
Don't mind me just hanging out in front of so pretty cara cotter, not only is their jewelry gorgeous, their store front is too. My hood in Edmonton is getting so many awesome businesses, shops and little eateries, it's amazing. I love seeing this! Nothing better than putting on my fancy pants on and exploring the neighborhood!

Fuck that "Beach Body" narrative
Monday, April 15, 2019
If one more person says they "need to get their beach body" ready I'm gunna snap.
This narrative of needing to fix our bodies to be "summer ready" is so destructive to our mental health and creates unnecessary anxiety in a lot of individuals. I have seen so many friends opt out of fun summer activities because they didn't want to be in a swimsuit, heard countless individuals talk about their extreme (and unhealthy) approaches to slimming down for summer. Extreme exercise, starvation, laxatives etc, all so they will look a certain way in shorts/bikini. That makes me sad, and angry and I want every single one of these individuals to feel beautiful because they are beautiful and perfect as they are!!
I am not exempt from this, years and years of being bombarded with these messages will make you take them to heart. Especially when I was younger, and less confident, I remember feeling panicked as the days got warmer, my body wasn't ready for public consumption! And that's what it is, having it ready for other people instead of being happy with it for you. As an adult lady I love going to the beach and pool and seeing all the different bodies, of all shapes and sizes, and all of them amazing and capable. We all have our own insecurities but that shouldn't stop us from going and enjoying our summer wardrobes and summer activities.
1. First and foremost, your body is a beach body if your body is at the beach
2. I don't need to work on a "summer body" I need to get my hiking bod ready, get my lungs conditioned to going uphill at a steep incline for hours. I need to get my outdoor soccer, bike riding and stair climbing legs ready.
3. My worth (and yours) is so much more than how I (and you) look in a goddamn swimsuit!!
4. Which for the record is amazing...our perceived imperfections and all. Just like all my other badass bitches out there rocking every shape, size and colour.
So take that body to the beach and enjoy your beach body my loves <3

Lunge with Thoracic Rotation:
Hold 30 seconds both ways, get your chest as open as you can.
Seated Upper Trap Stretch:
Holding onto the bench grab your head and slowly tip it to the side stretching out your upper trap and neck. Hold 30 seconds both sides
Standing Lunge with Thoracic Rotation:
A bit different from the first one, lunge, and rotate to the side of your front leg. So if you lunge with the right leg, rotate to the right side. 30 seconds hold both side.
Upper Trap/Pec stretch:
Reach hands behind the back, clasp your hands and rotate your chest open and shoulders down. 30 second hold
Upper Trap Stretch:
Bring your hand behind your back and rotate your head to the other side. Hold 30 seconds
Spring in my step
Wednesday, April 3, 2019
I am here for these warmer temperatures, and getting to bust out more of my spring wardrobe. I got this jumpsuit from winners over a month ago and have been patiently waiting to bust it out. Jumpsuits and rompers are my favorite items in my wardrobe, I don't know why but they make me feel put together & hawwwt. Nothing better than feeling yourself amiright?!
One thing about transitioning your wardrobe to spring is you notice the holes in your wardrobe...like a pair of black flats or loafers. I loved these ones but they're on their way out for sure, lots of wear and tear on these babies. I find I'm pretty hard on my shoes especially the ones I wear during the spring/summer months because of all the dog park walking and adventuring we do.

1. Split Squats 30 seconds per side
Back foot elevated flat on the bench, sink into your front leg and squeeze your glute to come back up.
2. Alternating Leg lowers
Ignore my face, this was the best face I made. Sit on edge of bench, bring legs up slightly alternating leg lowers back and forth. Make sure you don't feel this in your lower back.
3. Jump Squats 30 seconds
Sink into your hips, push through the heels to pop up and jump, soft landing. Ensure your knee's don't fall in.
4. Dips 30 seconds
Hands behind back facing out, sink into your shoulders and press back up.
5. Plank Rotations 30 seconds
High plank position, rotate to one side, and then back to the other side.
6. Step up Hops 30 seconds per leg
Step up and drive other knee up keeping the core nice and tight. Step back down and repeat.
7. Mountain Climbers 30 seconds
Plank on the forearms, drive knees in towards chest, keeping back nice and flat, alternating back and forth.
