From sun to fiesta

I like my clothing like I like my fitness, functional. I don't see the point of really complicated clothing or thing's that are just for show. My clothing needs to do double, triple, quadruple duty not just on the daily but for holidays too. I don't want to pack a bajillion things and then only wear it once (or worse, not at all!)
This simple denim dress from simons filled a whole in my heart I didn't even know existed. Is that a bad joke if I've had heart surgery? Moving on....
This dress is hella light weight so it was perfect to throw over my swim suit & keep the sun off a pretty nasty sunburn too. Besides denim goes with every colour or pattern of suit I could have packed.
And just like that I'm perfectly appropriate for a dinner date, looking done up but still totally comfortable on a vacation. I love that this denim dress is really soft, I've had some that were super stiff denim and that's no bueno when it's hot and you're burnt to a crisp. Also it's from their sustainable/eco friendly collection, so a purchase I felt good about. A couple pieces of gold jewelry and a belt are all the accessories needed. Oh and my super cool, fabulous all inclusive wrist band....it got me free tequila, so it stays.

Blooper Reel
Monday, March 26, 2018
2018 has shown to be a good year for bloopers for me (and now for you as well) It seems to be one of my super powers that I can make some seriously goofy faces. I find we often take ourselves a little too seriously, not just in blogging but in general. So it's important to sit back, make a dumb face and laugh at yourself or at me ;)
My "rap" pose?
Legit my face 99% of the time. I don't know why!
Sassy
What to do with my hands....
What move is this?
May have pooped a little
Straight up defeated
Candy Striper
Wednesday, March 14, 2018
I saw a lovely lady I've been following since the beginning of blogging history (maybe not that long) wearing a striped long sleeve under a slip dress and knew I had to recreate it. The gorgeous Terra of Love Nothing More has always been a style maven, I tip my hat to her in this outfit. I of course had to add my own twist with the pop of colour.
I know it doesn't shock me anymore but it seems to shock everyone else, but yes we still have snow and frigid temperatures here in Edmonton. It's Spring everywhere else, but we're always fashionably late to the party. However I am in full spring fever, seeing as I leave to Mexico this week I will get to enjoy the warmth way before I would normally.

Feminist, AF
Thursday, March 8, 2018
A big ol' happy Women's day to you all! I got this "Feminist AF" along with a "Future is Female" tee shirt a few weeks ago and I couldn't be happier with them. Feminism has been an important part of how I live my life for a long time and is a huge part of who I am. It never seemed to make sense to me that girls (myself included) were told we couldn't do certain things, behave a certain way or get paid as much as men. I hope we continue to move forward in creating a society where everyone is equal, it seems that in recent months things have been going both forwards and backwards with certain policies. It's an interesting time, thankfully there is such a great community of strong, amazing women out there I feel confidant sharing my voice.
Now moving away from politics and onto my outfit! This jacket though, amiright? It's a beautiful beautiful thing and I am obsessed with it. It's super soft, and just such a great statement piece. We all know I love me a good statement coat. And I love me some ripped jeans, these from Zara have been a favourite for a while. So much so that I may have busted the crotch out the other day....OH NO.

3. Serve over Quinoa
Bouldering Prep
Monday, March 5, 2018
Bouldering has quickly become a passion for both Darcy, myself & obviously Mr.Duke. It's such a fun activity, an amazing workout, and is like solving a fun puzzle. For me taking this up has actually helped me work on my shoulder issues, and my hip mobility. My hip mobility here doesn't look great, but that is without foam rolling and on the first squat.
Step 1: Mobility
Deep squat and deep side lunge, perform dynamically (meaning go in and out of the movement). Perform a squat to standing 10x and side to side lunge 10xper
2. Banded pull aparts 10x 2 sets
Pull band apart, retract the shoulder blades together and squeeze
3. External Rotation 10x per 2 sets
Keep elbow close to the body pull band out and open
4. Overhead pulldowns 10x 2 sets
Retract shoulder blades back and down
Step 2: Strengthen Grip/ Scapular retraction
Use different finger holes, try to pull yourself up using each. Perform scapular retraction to just strengthen the scapular movement and full pull ups to strengthen the whole movement.
