Surviving Winter- Coats
Monday, February 4, 2019
Since the temperatures this week have seriously taken a nose dive (-29 degrees Celsius plus windchill) it reminded me how important outer wear is in my wardrobe. Having a bunch of different options for outerwear is so nice when you need to wear all the layers to face the outdoors.
Some coats you NEED in your wardrobe:
1. Pop of colour
I have the tendency towards a lot of grey, black and white in the winter months so having a few colourful options is always nice. Nothing brightens my mood quite like a pop of colour!
2. The Parka
Everyone needs good parka, I personally have two, this cute one which I love so much. It's not the worlds warmest parka but I do have one of those too. This one is good for most winter days but when it gets to be -30 I whip out the big guns, which is a big cozy black parka. No photos of it though because I don't do photos in -30.
3. Menswear
I love a big oversized blazer type fit to a coat, this grey one has been in my wardrobe many seasons and I always love it. Because it's oversized it can easily accommodate a big chunky sweater underneath. SO warm.4. Teddy Bear Coats
I don't give a goddamn f*** if these coats go out of style, they are so comfortable. Warm, fuzzy and soft AF, I need that in my winter wardrobe.Sweater Weather!

You can always tell it's colder outside by my pinched smile, I'm trying real hard to look happy here but clearly am not digging the wind that's blowing at me making it feel like -17. GROSS. Just means it's truly time to bust out my super thick, cozy sweaters and go to town layering away. I love me a good sweater dress, & this one was a great find at value village a few months ago.

Oh fancy that, here I am wearing a wrap dress, right after talking about wrap tops. I bought this sessi little number for our Mexican adventure and it was the perfect piece to throw over a bikini or wear out for a dinner. I was sad to come home back to the deep freeze because I wanted to wear it some more.
Then I had my AH-HA moment, layering! This striped long sleeve is now a staple in my wardrobe since picking it up at a swap in February, I wear that shit with everything.
The lack of sunshine and warmth may be making me a little craaazy, I swear to jeeebuz if I see more snow I might start crying. Speaking of tears, my brand new canon camera got stuck on video mode so I had to send it off to be fixed...see you in 6-12 weeks. AND Canon won't honor the warranty because of where it was purchased, so I got it in december, it stops working in april and I have to pay for that?! NO BUENO. So, these photos are of slightly lesser quality because I'm using my 10 year old camera, thank god I had a back up.
