All The Layers
This week was super cold which called for lots and lots of cozy layers. This fluffy jacket has been my go-to for the last couple months since I got it. It's so soft and cozy I almost always immediately throw it on when I come home from work. Not only is it cozy it also goes with everything, dresses up and down.
This leopard print skirt has gotten quite a bit of play this winter, the 90s vibes especially when paired with my black turtleneck. Seems so funny to me now that the 90s are so back in style when it seems like they were just here yesterday. My style icon as a youngin' was ms rachel green from friends and this was feeling very rachel esque.

Staple
We were blessed with some above zero temperatures last week so I got to wear this baby out a few times. It's amazing how a piece can instantly make you feel good. I wish the warmer temperatures would stick around but alas it is only January and this is Edmonton. SIGH.

Grey Winter

The temperatures have dropped again around here, -20 degrees! It's chilly as all hell, but it means I'm getting all my cozy knits out and wearing them all at once. This sweater is a few years old, but it's always a go to, oversized, off the shoulder and loose knit. It's a great mix knit of grey and black thread and I'm really into it with more grey.
Grey, blush, and black are a really great palette together, subtle but fun to be able to mix textures instead. I am ready to now hibernate until the spring thaws my poor bones out.

Great Escape

I got this jacket for Christmas 2 years ago, and it has been one of my favourite winter coats ever since. I love when I can find an incredibly cozy jacket that is also super cute like this one. When you live in basically the arctic for 6 months out of the year, it's good to have a few coats like that. I'm very into having a functional wardrobe, but refuse to give up my sense of style.
I've had these boats for going on 5 years now and they are even more badass than when I got them. They were always meant to be broken in, so the more I break them in the better they look. The perfect item for me, as I am very hard on my footwear. We took these on our weekend getaway to Jasper, this was the view right outside our place on Pryamid Lake. It was such a great spot, so beautiful, really quiet this time of year, exactly what I needed.

Nothin but Neutrals!

My wardrobe is currently reflecting the weather here. It's cold, grey, dreary and I am super over it. I really miss seeing the sun, if its cold, snowy and sunny I am a okay. I don't know how you ladies do it over in Vancouver. Big cozy sweaters, hats, and fluffy jackets are my go-to these days, anything that will keep me warm!
It would have been so easy to go all black with this outfit, but I loved the subtle mix of neutrals with grey and blush. It's hard to get any more dressed up when it's -20 with the wind chill out. But gives me an excuse to wrap myself in blankets and snuggle the dog. As if I needed an excuse for that!!

Snuggled up

This coat is heavy in my rotation, essentially my go-to. It's super cozy but we've hit -17 temperatures so it is in need of layering, which is why this waffle sweatshirt is perfect. Both are super soft and cozy as all hell which is what I want when it's this cold. I'm annoyed that the temperatures went from +15 to -17 in a week but, that's alberta. Just means I get to wear my beanies all the time now. I love a good beanie, especially if it has a pom!

Winter 2.0

Remember last week when I wasn't wearing tights? Yeah, that lasted long....spring in alberta is always full of such fun surprises. This weekend we got 10cm of snow and another 3-5 on monday. Most of it hasn't stuck around, but honestly I am just so sick of seeing it. It's depressing.
What isn't depressing is the colour of this dress! What a great minty shade, finally something other than blush in my wardrobe. It's either neutrals or blush lately. Ah well, at least I know what I like?

All Wool Everything
So what does one wear when it's -25? A giant wool sweater, matching wool hat and a large oversized wool coat. Also wool socks, but you can't see those here. At least I'm cozy, right? I must say I am getting a little tired of the thick sweaters and being bundled. Soon enough.
On Our Way

Radio silence on my part for the last week, not because I didn't have anything ready to go but because I was in a state of anxiety over my beloved doggo Mr. Duke. He spent all last week back and forth from the vet, he wasn't eating/drinking, couldn't keep anything down but after many a test he is on antibiotics and on the mend. PHEW. I was basically a mess. Also, to anyone with a pet, PET INSURANCE, my saving grace after getting a $700 vet bill.
So after all the nice weather we had and the mass melting it's gotten cold again. Sigh, it was bound to happen as it is still February and I am in Alberta. So it's back to 2 layers of tights, sweater dresses and wool jackets, but I tell you we're getting closer to spring. I can almost smell the floral prints! Transition seasons are always my favorites; there is the same thrill seeing the buds coming alive as there is in seeing the leaves change colours. Until then though, I am going to enjoy wearing big cozy sweaters and sipping hot drinks with my cuddly puppy.
