Fit Weekends
Friday, July 8, 2016
The weekends are meant for many things: Brunching, sleeping in, catching up with friends & being active. Weekends are a great time to get out and try those things that you dont have time to do during the week. This weekend why dont you:
1. Run some stairs with friends. Swap out your brunching with friends to stairs with friends! Or stairs then brunch, burn off the eggs bennies before you even get em.
2. Go explore your city via bicycle. There is something so great about getting to see a different side of your city when you see it on bike. Map out your trails and pit stops along the way!
3. Do an outdoor workout. Its summertime might as well enjoy it before its over, there are lots of circuits that dont need any equipment
4. Try something new: Golf, a spin class, an outdoor boot camp, hiking, go rock climbing (we did that last weekend, SO fun).

2 whole ripe avocados
1 tomato
Quarter of a white onion
Quarter of a bunch of cilantro chopped finely
2-3 gloves garlic, or garlic paste
Half a lime
1. Finely chop the tomato, cilantro & onion into small pieces.
2. Squish avocados until completely mushed up
3. Mix all together, add the garlic paste and squeeze in lime. Serve with chips or top off a burger or taco :)

Date Night
Wednesday, July 6, 2016
Outfit: Tank & jeans-Zara, Blazer-Dynamite, Necklace-Saraswati designs, ring-The Bag, Bag-Vintage, Shoes-payless (Very old)
When asked what Id wear for a night out in Vegas, my immediate thought process goes to short hemlines and bedazzled everything. Then I flash back to reality and realize that aint me. At least not unless its Halloween. Sky high heels on the other hand have always held a special little place in my heart. As a 5 foot 2 individual I try to fake my height whenever I can, and these shoes add quite a bit! I feel like I am towering over everyone, when in reality I am just making eye contact.
What better for a night out for me than ripped jeans, a cute lacy top and of course a leather blazer. Now that to me is the perfect date night out look, no matter where you are. Comfortable is sexy, and the low cut back on this tank adds just enough intrigue without showing it all. And in a sea of short hemlines, and bedazzled breasts that definitely stands out. So thats my #ultimatevegasoutfit

Recipe: Greek Chicken (or shrimp or fish!)
Tuesday, July 5, 2016
I love a really simple flavorful recipe that serves as a good base to be used in a multitude of ways. This greek style chicken is a great go to for me because it can be enjoyed SO many ways. I like to make a big batch of it then use it as a main one day, throw it on a salad for lunch the next and then stuff it in a pita with tons of veg after that. Easy peasy!
Ingredients:
1. 4 chicken breasts (or 1lb shrimp, 4 fish filent)
2. 1 lemon
3. 3 tbsp oregano
4. 1 tbsp garlic salt
5. Olive oil
1. In a bowl coat chicken (or protein of choice) with the lemon, oregano, garlic and olive oil
2, Grill until cooked through on the BBQ
3. Yes, its that easy. Grab some tzaitziki (I like the planet organic kind) and pair it with some fresh veggies for a light dinner or stuff it in a pita with cucumber and tomatoes for lunch!

Shin Splints
Monday, July 4, 2016
Shin Splits are a huge pain, well in your shins. It is a sharp pain along the front of your shins and the pain can get so severe you feel like you cannot walk or run. There are several reasons this occurs
1. Too much too soon. Increasing your running program and the amount you're doing quickly rather than gradually (guilty!)
2. Poor footwear choice, if you overpronate (feet fall in) while running or walking and dont have support this can cause shin splints!
3. Running on hard and uneven surfaces
4. Other muscles such as calves becoming overactive and tight causing other muscles to be underactive
I personally have experienced shin splints a few times in my life, and as a soccer player they are not welcome! There are many things that help but first and foremost you must
1. REST and ICE your shins. Depending on how severe they are the rest might be a couple days, or a couple weeks.
Once they start to feel better add these exercises into your warm up protocol:
2. Foam roll your calves and even the bottoms of your feet
3. Start this after you have rested! Strengthen the muscles in the front of your leg (anterior tibialis specifically) through toe taps and banded resistance exercises.
Attach resistance band to post or under chair, wrap around foot and pull foot towards your face, you should be able to see the muscle working. For toe taps and banded flexion perform 10-12 reps for 3 sets on each foot.
4. Cross Train, this means using different modalities of training other than running, try rowing, biking, or strength training, performing non impact exercises (so no jumping). Follow this you should be able to say goodbye to your shin splints!
