West Wind Pass
4.7 km
366m elevation gained
Rating-Moderate to difficult depending if you go on to windtower
The view at the top is absolutely gorgeous, you can keep hiking as well. If you veer to the right you can keep hiking to Windtower, its a lot more challenging over that way, and the round trip becomes 9.8km.
Three Sisters Pass
5.0km
563m elevation gain
Rating-Difficult
This one if a bit of a rocky one, lots of loose rocks and quite a scramble to the top. If you're bringing your doggo make sure they're quite fit, our guy was too tired to make it all the way to the top (he had hiked two days in a row). The view was gorgeous, even if we didn't quite get to the very top.
Farmer Chic
Friday, November 23, 2018
I was truly convince when I bought these overalls for a halloween costume a few years ago that I'd probably never wear them. Glad I proved myself wrong, I've worn them 2x in the last 2 weeks. I forgot I had them until I was clearing out my closet for winter. I have seen lots of people rocking overalls lately and thought I'd give em a go!
I loved how they looked with the simple black turtleneck underneath, a couple pops of pink and I really liked how this look turned out. Besides these overalls are super comfy, I can't believe I had forgotten about them. Darcy said I looked like a farmer "but in a kinda cute way", what a guy. Much compliment, wow. Anyways I loved this chic farmer look, it's nice when something thats trendy is already in your closet and you can work it your own way.

Planning for Self Care this Winter
Wednesday, October 10, 2018
We're coming up on a bleak time of year, the days are getting shorter, it's getting colder and soon we'll have snow. Not exactly painting a bright picture am I? Well it's very easy to have it feel overwhelming and it becomes easy to start slacking on your self care. That's why we need a plan! Not only is the crappy weather a factor but the upcoming holiday season can be pretty hard on our bodies with all the food, booze but mentally too. Leave it to having to hang out with all your extended family to push all your triggers...no, just me?
Exercise releases dopamine and serotonin, we know this. Those hormones both make us feel good, so it's a no brainer that ensuring we're getting 3-4 workouts in a week would be beneficial. Besides if it's shitty and cold out, you might as well go warm up in the gym!
Or even a staycation! A weekend away somewhere even close by can be so relaxing. If you spend a lot of time planning it this creates something to look forward to! Do a ton of research, plan it out, try something new while you're away (or something you've always wanted to do at home). The more you put into it the more you'll look forward to it too.
Taking a day off, or a half day once a month and just focusing on doing what you want to. That can legit just be sleeping in and catching up on some things. It can be whatever your body feels like it absolutely needs it at that moment. You will absolutely feel refreshed after that!
1. Get Some Vitamin D
Adding in this supplement can make a huge difference to keep your mood even. It also helps maintain bone health, support health of the immune system, and support cardiovascular function among other things. Those all sound like good things, yes? So try a supplement and try to get outside on a day when the sun is shining as much as possible
2. Get Your Workouts In

This is definitely a self care strategy, you're setting yourself up for success for the week by planning ahead. If you come home from work and it's shitty and cold out, what might you want? COMFORT FOOD, but this sometimes makes us feel even more sluggish and gross.4. Try a "Dry" Month
It's very tempting especially in the next few months of holiday celebrations to really indulge but that's why taking a month off before or after can be helpful. Not only is booze expensive but it can easily pack on more calories, and they're empty calories. Alcohol is a depressant, and during the dark grey months the last thing you need is to be putting something in your body that's going to make you feel even worse. We did a dry February last year, I think we're aiming for dry November and dry February again this year.
5. Plan a Vacation
6. Take a Monthly Self Care Day

Monday, October 8, 2018
I bought this jacket last fall when I saw it on the Miss Boss instagram and fell in love! I was a woman possessed, I needed to have it. So i made it mine, and a year later, I stand behind that decision. Nothing quite like a pop of pink on a chilly day to put you in a good mood.
Still In Edmonton
Tuesday, September 25, 2018
This "Still In Edmonton" tee has been on my buy list since the spring! I went on my shopping ban and had to wait, so I was very happy to grab it. Right in time for all the snow...so everyone could laugh and commiserate with us all being "still in edmonton"
Darcy got me this cozy ass sweater from Simons for my birthday and I've been obsessed with it ever since. It's so cozy and the tartan pattern is perfect for this time of year. Surprisingly I didn't have anything in my wardrobe like this! Red is totally my jam too.

Love Letter to My Body
Friday, June 22, 2018
I am
writing this as any ode to my body, my
mind and most specifically my heart. Seven years ago I had my aorta replaced,
it was a process of 14 months of things going wrong to get to that point. Most
people take their birthday as a time to reflect, for me it’s my aortaversary (obviously
my own coined term) it’s a very happy day for me, I take this time to check in
and appreciate my body.
It's so crazy how light my scar is now, they really did a good job
Seven years
for me is a really big milestone, it’s a time frame I set out in my mind when my
recovery was really hard, that in 7 years I would be so far away from the pain
I was currently in. And I was right. 2 years post-OP I was still very
emotionally vulnerable and battling with the whole experience. After a few more
I could finally see it as a good experience, a huge influence as it always will
be. Now 7 years later I am grateful for the whole mess of a thing. I learned so
much about resilience, I never knew how tough I was until this happened, and
although it was incredibly difficult emotionally I found ways to get past it
and keep my light.
So here is
my love letter to my body who no matter what let’s me move, seven years ago I
couldn’t walk to the end of the block without being winded. I kick box 2x a
week, lift weights 2x a week, run 2x, and play soccer. Dear body you are f
ucking magnificent, I promise to take care of you always. I promise to allow
you rest when you need it more, to listen to you and push you.
Today I’m
looking at re setting where I’m at based on this, my health has always been
important to me, my body since then has been my priority. I’ve talked about it a
lot this year but I need to re focus on my self care, taking downtime, and my
mental health. It’s funny that I can get so caught up in the physical health
and forget about self care, my heart needs to be worked but it also needs
downtime to recover and not be working overtime always. So happy aortaversary
heart, I took the day off so I could do any little thin my heart desired and
tomorrow we’re going to escape to the mountains!
Recipe: Protein Pancakes
Monday, January 23, 2017
I have been working on making different things for breakfast and snacks that are 1. delicious 2. nutritious 3. easy. These pancakes hit all those bases, plus they're damn good! Even my boyfriend who doesn't like pancakes can't get enough of these babies. Also, I hate my kitchen and can't wait till I move for more space and better lighting.
Ingredients:
1 cup rolled oats
2 scoops vanilla protein powder
1/4 cup eggs whites
2 T flaxseed
2 T cinnamon
1 banana
1 T baking powder
Directions:
1. Mix all the ingredients together in a blender, make sure it really mixes well
2. Heat a medium pan with olive oil, pour small batches in
3. Top with all natural peanut butter and raspberries and blueberries!
