Lets talk about self care, because it's something I've been thinking about a lot lately. And the lack of it in my life. Taking care of yourself is so important not just to be unwell but mentally as well. If you don't take care of yourself you run the risk of not only becoming run down, catching a cold, flu etc, but burning out or becoming depressed. 
Burn out is: 
physical and emotional exhaustion
cynicism and detachment
feelings of ineffectiveness and lack of accomplishment

Signs of this can include: Chronic fatigue, insomnia, anxiety, loss of appetite, physical symptoms such as heart palpitations,headaches, dizziness, stomach pain, increased illness etc. 

 Maybe you only recognize a few of these symptoms, or maybe you've just been in a really stressful state, but self care and taking time for this is incredibly important. It's easier said than done though, so just like a workout sometimes you need to schedule it. 
Some good ways to get in self care: 
1. Get a massage/physio/acupuncture
2. Do something you really love but never make time for. This can be as simple as catching up on a show, doing a fun activity etc. 
3. Meditate, adding in 5-10 minutes a day can be incredibly beneficial. 
4. Take a long hot shower/bubble bath 
5. Talk to a psychologist, we all thing "we can do this alone" but every single person gets overwhelmed from time to time, and having someone who is an expert to talk to can be so beneficial. 
6. Make space in your life for things outside of work/commitments. I get it, we're all super busy but making time to have to yourself is incredibly important and rewarding.
7. Cuddle a puppy dog, it has actually been scientifically proven that petting a dog can bring down your stress levels. And those who own a dog generally lead a happier life.
